Good morning! Tomorrow (Thursday, August 29th) your student will bring home a picture order form and 4th and 5th grade students will bring home IAR testing results from last year. Elementary School picture day is next Thursday (Sept. 5th) and you can order online @ www.vsi.co/schools (students will still need the form with the confirmation code on it for picture day). Please be on the lookout for these items and let us know if you have questions. Have a great day!
Mr. Kean

Attending school regularly is extremely important to your child's academic success. Missing just two days of school a month can lead them to a student being considered a chronic absentee. Let's work together this school year to ensure our students are attending school regularly and making the most out of the 2024-2025 school year. #bepresentbepowerful

5th Grade Parents: Band Registration Night will be held on Tue Sep 10 from 4:00pm-7:30pm in the Elem Music Room. If your student is interested in joining, this is the night they officially sign up for Band. I've met with each class to talk about instruments & answer students' questions. It's been going well! There are several benefits to studying music, the primary one being your student will enjoy all aspects of music (and life) to a higher degree. I hope your student considers joining! Full details are in the attached letter. Email is the best way to reach me (Renchen.Kyle@gcmsk12.org). I'm happy to answer questions & I look forward to meeting you! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mMnKp44go_LZu9SLBsQx39ToSzDzO9Vz/view?usp=sharing

GCMS Families,
I am sure many of you are aware, and sadly many will be directly affected, of the closing of RhinoAg on the south side of Gibson City. This manufacturing facility has been a long standing staple in our community and 80 people will be losing their jobs in our community.
In our small town when big events happen, the ripple effect is real and we never truly understand how each person is impacted. Our kids of all ages feel those impacts and it can impact them, their focus, their motivation, their happiness. Be kind.
This won't help all but may help some... We have two open 2nd shift custodial positions that will be interviewed very soon, if you know someone who is impacted that may be interested have them reach out to Bob Jones our director of maintenance ASAP (jones.bob@gcmsk12.org).
If a family is impacted financially let the administrators know because families can be provided financial waivers at any time during the year should their family situation change and they become eligible for supports.
Thank you for your attention and compassion.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Darnell
GCMS Superintendent
