Congratulations to sophomore Katie Steidinger, who was selected by audition for the ILMEA All State Choir. She will join other top choral musicians from the state of Illinois for a Zoom master class on Saturday, March 20th, where she will get instruction and feedback from top choral conductors and musicians. This is one of the highest honors a high school choir student can receive, and we are very proud of her hard work and accomplishment!

GCMS Families, This is your weekly update on the COVID related activity at GCMS. This week we have 3 positive cases to report at the Elementary School which resulted in 21 quarantines. All those directly impacted were notified immediately. Neither the high school nor the middle school had any cases last week and we have just 4 kids total quarantined from those two buildings due to outside close contact. GCMS had over 80% of the adults (staff) who work with your children choose to be vaccinated and will be done with both doses after today. We respect the choice each person makes and embrace the added mitigation that the vaccination provides both the staff members and students they serve. GCMS is purchasing three medical grade disinfecting units that will be another added layer of protection for students and staff. You can see them at rzero.com. These units will only be engaged when students are not present. The Leading Forward team will continue to meet to prepare for 2021-2022. We are reviewing parent surveys, legal mandates, staffing considerations to best serve kids in 2021-2022. As always reach out with questions or concerns! Sincerely, Mr. Darnell
