GCMS Community,
It is with great sadness that we share with you that Colin Kristensen class of 2024 was tragically killed in a car accident on Tuesday, May 30th in rural Ford County.
Colin was an amazing young man who was active in a diverse set of activities from athletics, Agriculture and FFA, and was incredibly talented in the technical aspects of our performing arts programs. The family, students, staff, and community are shocked and saddened by the sudden loss.
The GCMS community always rises to the occasion to support our children and families, and we want to thank everyone who has already reached out to do so. We ask that everyone respects the privacy and grieving process of the family and those closest to Colin.
Information on arrangements will be provided when made available by the family. Thank you for your support, thoughts, and understanding in this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Darnell
GCMS Superintendent
The placing of flags at our veterans' gravesites that was planned for this Saturday has been cancelled. The ground is too hard to put the flags in and they do not want to break the flag sticks. We appreciate any students that were planning to help. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

GCMS Families,
Hard to believe this is our last Friday!!! Seniors enjoy the next couple days, you earned it! Everyone else, finish strong and enjoy the final days of 2022-2023.
I wanted to take a moment to give a big shout out, and share some news, about our crossing guards Derrick Babbs and Melissa Salyards who have been dedicated to their crossings for years.
This summer Gibson City will be redoing the roads around the Elementary and High School campuses and with that we will be making some adjustments in parking and traffic flow which will include eliminating the human crossing guards on these two 4 way stop intersections. We wanted to share this information so those kids and families that cross these areas are aware well in advance to communicate with your children, and bid say goodbye to these two great people next week.
Stay tuned in late July or early August for details on traffic flow, rules of the road, and community awareness for the many 4 way stops that surround our schools!
Thanks Mr. Babbs and Ms. Salyards for your time and dedication!
Our 1st graders had a great time at the North Park in Gibson City for their picnic day today!
