GCMS Middle School

Good morning GCMS Middle School! Today is Friday, October 28th.

Would you now please rise and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

It is your last chance for Soctober sock donations. If you have any socks to donate, please bring them to the library at this time.  As of right now, Mrs. Allen's enrichment class is in first place by just a few pairs of socks.

The 7th grade health class is taking a very short survey of our student and staff population. Please check your email to fill out the survey.

Students, you received a What is Title I? and school/parent compact paper last week in enrichment. If you return the last signature page this week, then you will be entered into a raffle for a free book. This is optional, and you may turn the signed paper into your enrichment teacher or Mrs. Freehill.  Also, if you attended the Falcon Pre-Game Celebration and have not picked up your free book, please stop by Mrs. Freehill’s room this week.

Attention 6th and 7th grade students.  There will be an informational parent meeting for the Washington D.C. trip on Wednesday, November 2 at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria.

Middle School Athletics is excited to announce the return of Costume Night, next Monday, Oct. 31 for our 7th and 8th Grade girls basketball games.  Any student in grades K-8 who wears a Halloween costume to the games will be entered into a drawing for a prize.  We will also have our famous Costume Parade at halftime of the 8th Grade game.  Make plans to join in the fun next Monday, Oct. 31 starting at 5:30.  See Coach Berry if you have any questions.

Red Ribbon Fact of the day: Marijuana is the drug most frequently found in the blood of drivers involved in, and often responsible for, car crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the number of drivers found to have marijuana in their system is higher than drivers who test positive for alcohol. However, 83% of teens report that they would feel unsafe riding in a vehicle with someone who had consumed alcohol, but only 74% said the same in regards to marijuana. Whether drunk or high it is unsafe to drive!

It's Friday!!!  We will have more call in trivia today during enrichment, remember, doors and posters need to be complete by 1pm today!  Make sure to finish this week strong academically.

We would like for all students to do their check-in during the 1st hour.  This helps make sure that Mrs. V and Mrs. J can get to anyone who wants a check-in throughout the day.

Also students, please make sure that your cellphones are off and stored in your locker and please be sure to sign up for hot lunch.

Students, please remember to follow our school-wide expectations of Be on Time, Be Prepared, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.

Thank you and have a fantastic day Falcons!
