GCMS Middle School

Good morning GCMS Middle School! Today is Monday, September 19th.

Would you now please rise and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Students, you need to start bringing your water bottles with you to class.  It’s very difficult for the PE teachers to stop what they are doing to let you into the building to get water when you are outside.  Also, since it is Friday please remember to take your PE clothes home today.

I’m seeing a lot of students participating in our Homecoming week dress up day today which is “Dress Fancy or Dress Country”.  Just a reminder that Tuesday is Tacky Tourist Day, Wednesday is Jersey day, Thursday will be Senior Citizen Day, and Friday is of course Falcon Friday.  Remember, anything you wear must fit into the guidelines of the student dress code, meaning all clothing and accessories should be appropriate for school.

We had a lot of sports taking place over the weekend.  Youth soccer started up this weekend.  The under 14 team beat Rantoul by a score of 3-1 and they beat Paxton by a score of 7-2.  The under 12 team also beat Rantoul.  The score was 7-1.  Congratulations on starting your seasons with wins.

JFL football played at Dwight this weekend.  The Seniors team had a tough game and took their first loss of the season.  The Juniors team won 14-7 and remain undefeated.  Both teams play their final regular season game on Saturday at home vs. PBL.

Congratulations to Dayne White.  On Friday Dayne competed in the state golf championship in Metamora.  Dayne shot a 90 which was good for 6th place among 6th grade golfers.

Good luck to our girls basketball teams today.  They open their season on the road at Hoopeston.

We would like for all students to do their check-in during the 1st hour.  This helps make sure that Mrs. V and Mrs. J can get to anyone who wants a check-in throughout the day.

Also students, please make sure that your cellphones are off and stored in your locker and please be sure to sign up for hot lunch.

Students, please remember to follow our school-wide expectations of Be on Time, Be Prepared, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.

Thank you and have a fantastic day Falcons!
