Good morning GCMS Middle School! Today is Friday, April 11.
Would you now please rise and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Attention students that go to the gym in the morning, food and drinks are NOT allowed in the gym. The only drink you may have is water. Anything else will create a sticky mess when it's spilled so please finish your food and energy drinks before you arrive at school. If you aren’t able to finish your food and drink prior to arriving at school you will need to go to the cafeteria to finish.
Students, at this time you should be in your testing room. As a reminder, we have testing each morning this week and again next Monday. Remember, please try your best on these exams as your score is reported to the state, your school, and to your parents. We do use the test results to determine what core classes you will take next year so please try your best. Please remember, we are doing a daily prize raffle for students that meet these expectations. Good luck on your test today!
The education foundation is holding a walk-a-thon fundraiser on Thursday, April 17. All students in the district will be participating. There have been several online posts about this event. You can seek donations by having your parents share the link that was advertised in the social media posts. There will be prizes for the individual student that raises the most money and for the grade level that raises the most money. The education foundation is a great organization that gives back to teachers and students. Thank you for supporting this fundraiser. Flyers for the walk-a-thon should go home today with 6th and 8th grade students. 7th grade students, you will get a flyer on Monday since you will be gone to the field trip today.
Attention geography club members, you will not be meeting after school tomorrow or next week. Please see Mrs. Purcell-Givens for information on when you next meet.
Congratulations to our scholastic bowl team. They had a big win last night against Prairie Central. Their record is now 7-1.
Congratulations to our track teams. They had their first meet of the season last night. Here are the results; 7th grade boys=2nd place, 8th grade boys=3rd place, 7th grade girls=4th place, 8th grade girls=1st place.
Students, please make sure that you are coming to school with a fully charged chromebook. We especially need them this week for testing.
Students, please make sure that your cellphone and smart watches are put away in your locker.
Students with the weather getting nicer please have appropriate clothing for PE and lunch recess in your locker as you may be going out more.
Students that are eating school lunch today please be sure to sign up on the google form. First choice today is spaghetti and second choice is a chicken salad sandwich. Please be sure to sign up so you get the choice that you want and to help us ensure that we have enough food for everyone.
Students, please remember to follow our school-wide expectations of Be on Time, Be Prepared, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.
Today is a great day to have a great day!
