All students in grade 6-12 are invited to explore their future in the health care profession. Gibson Area Hospital will host informational meetings on a wide variety of medical fields. Teens can join the Health Care Exploring orientation on Monday, December 4 at 6:30 in the Educational Building at 207 E. 8th St. in Gibson City. Exploring is a career education-based program of the Boy Scouts of America. It is designed to provide young adults with an opportunity to get "hands-on" experience in health career fields through activities with trained professionals.

Health Care Exploring is an interactive, worksite-based career education program working as an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America. Participants in the program are called Explorers. The program serves any young men and women who are 11 through 20 years old. This Health Care Exploring post is sponsored by East Central Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC). Health Care Explorers will learn from quality hospital employees 'experience.

East Central Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is starting a career-specific Exploring post/club by matching their people and organizational resources to the career interests of local youth in the community. Health Care Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and their community hospital. The result is a program of interactive activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.

Exploring is designed to give youth the training and direction they need to perform a job or duty later in their life. They can participate in much of the same training that is already being conducted at Gibson Area Hospital. Once a month, their training and leadership experience will give them a great insight into your medical education when they review the future possibilities. Gibson Area Hospital will share with Explorers the many options of medical careers and provide experiences to learn through tours and discussions with medical personnel. Activity meetings will be 75 minutes in length.
