Postsecondary Exploration Day

Parents, This Friday, March 3rd we will have our Postsecondary Exploration Day here at GCMS High School. The goal of this day is to provide students with opportunities to learn about different pathways for life after high school and what steps they need to take to get there.

We will have 4 stations for students to rotate through by grade level. Those stations for this year are as follows:

  1. College/Military/Career Fair (gym) - 25 representatives from various organizations for students to learn more about possible pathways, including direct employment, 2 or 4-year colleges, & military opportunities.
  2. Parkland Degree/Certificate programs (library) - learn about opportunities to earn a two year degree or certificate and go directly into the workforce.
  3. Job Fair (cafeteria) - meet with representatives who are interested in hiring students to work while they are still in school.
  4. Early College and Career Academy (band room) - Learn more about the 10 different career programs to earn college credit while in high school. (Note: seniors will participate in scholarship and interviewing skills workshops instead of the ECCA station.)

With nearly 300 students in the building we realize that this event will not hit the sweet spot for every student, but we just wanted you to be aware it and encourage your child to gather as much information as possible to help them in planning for life after high school. Please let Mr. Carter know if you have any questions.
